Hojo beach is a 3 minute walk from JR Tateyama station west exit. Tateyama Bay with its beautiful sandy beach is also called Kagamigaura, or Mirror Bay, as it is often calm like the flat surface of a mirror. As the bay faces the west, the sun sets over the horizon leaving a bright orange color. When the air is clear enough, Mt. Fuji can be seen. Twice a year, people come to see the unique phenomena called “Diamond Fuji”, when the sun sets behind the top of Mt. Fuji.
