神社の格式のひとつに一宮（いちのみや）があります。地域で最も格式の高い神社のことを、「一宮」と呼びましたが、かつての「安房国」という地域にはなぜか「一宮」が２つあります。一つは安房神社で、もうひとつがこの洲崎神社です。
本殿に上がるまでの150段の階段は圧巻です。

One of the prestigious categories of Shinto shrines is called “Ichinomiya.” The term refers to the most esteemed shrine in a region, and in the former region known as “Awa Province,” there are inexplicably two shrines bearing the title of “Ichinomiya.” One is the Awa Shrine, and the other is the Susaki Shrine.

The impressive aspect of the Susaki Shrine is the grand staircase consisting of 150 steps leading up to the main hall.
